Hello I'm Simon and I graduated from the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), completing a four year degree equivalent Diploma in Acupuncture and TCM and also diplomas' in Tui-Na massage and Qi-Gong (Chinese therapeutic exercise) amassing over 600 hours of clinical practice.
Originally from Manchester U.K, I've traveled far and wide, learning about many cultures and the healing arts that go with them. It is through my extended travels away from western civilization that I realized that healing is not all about the tablets and pills a doctor can offer, but about healing the body, the mind and spirit also. While I acknowledge that tablets and pills from western doctors have their place in the whole healing process. I believe that much is missed from an overall health point of view.
During a trip to India, a festering ankle wound from a motorbike exhaust burn was unsuccessfully treated with antibiotics. I went to see a local healer, after looking at my tongue and taking my pulse, I was given an unpleasant tasting liquid and told my blood was infected. Two days later there was a solid scab, no infection and it healed with no scar. When I went back to thank the man he told me that it was important for him to find the root cause of why it was not healing and not just treat the symptoms. I have believed in this ever since.
When I am not practising I enjoy spending time with my son, helping coach his soccer team. I also enjoy dragon boating, cooking, reading, exploring Wellington, its waterfront and the surrounding areas.
